Graflex Lightsaber – What to Know About its Legacy?

We know that you are a Star Wars fan that is why you are here to learn about the Graflex lightsaber.

Before we start with everything, have you thought about the iconic lightsabers of Jedi and Sith?

Graflex, also known as “The Youngling Slayer 9000,” is a deadly weapon that was at the heart of some of the most epic battles. It has changed many hands throughout Star Wars history.

We are sure you must also be curious about Star Wars Graflex lightsabers

But do you know the history behind these legendary weapons? Let’s know about its legacy.

Luke Skywalker

Anakin’s Graflex was in Kenobi’s possession for about 19 years until it was time to give it to Anakin’s son, Luke.

He was raised on Tatooine by his Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. When Owen and Beru were murdered, Obi-Wan left Tatooine with Luke and Graflex to begin his Jedi training.

Luke used his father’s lightsaber for the very first time when he wanted to block the laser shots from a training robot on the Millennium Falcon. He also used it while on the mission to rescue Princess Leia, his twin sister, from a cell on the Death Star.

Luke kept his lightsaber with him for a long time when he was in a Galactic Civil War, and he used it when there was a battle of Hoth. Further, he kept the saber to use during the training with Yoga on Dagobah.

Finn

It is not clear what happened after Ugnaught found out about Anakin’s Graflex, but it is sure that Lightsaber was with Maz Kanata, who was a pirate queen.

For more than thirty years, a very common Skywalker lightsaber was lying in Kanata’s storehouses until Han Solo showed up with Rey and Finn.

When Rey was there for the saber, she saw various horrifying visions from the past. Due to this reason, Rey refused to take it from Maz, but Finn took it to keep it safe during the First Order attack.

Finn later took the saber during the ongoing attack to kill a trooper. The next time he used it was during the duel with Kylo Ren.

Finn was untrained in lightsaber combat, so he fought well without any force. So, he was defeated by Ren.

Rey

Kylo Ren was a descendant of Anakin Skywalker, so he thought he owned that iconic Skywalker lightsaber. However, Graflex flew directly toward the Rey while passing Ren. Later, Rey used it to defeat Ren and make an escape with the help of Millennium Falcon and Chewbacca.

There was a throne room belonging to Snoke, a Supreme Leader. Rey and Kylo Ren were there, and they used the Graflex in partnership to kill Snoke along with his Praetorian guards.

When the war was over, Ren asked for the legacy of Skywalker Lightsaber, but it got stuck between Ren and Rey as they used the Force to pull in opposite directions.

Eventually, the saber and the Kyber crystal inside the lightsaber were broken. Later, Rey escaped with the broken parts’ end and repaired it while joining two halves of the hilt back together and fixing them with a leather strap.

Rey then used the saber to train throughout the war against the First Order until the battle on the Sith planet.

Graflex Lightsaber – An Iconic Symbol

The sleek design and elegant glow make Graflex lightsaber an iconic symbol of Jedi and Force. It has a special place in the hearts of the Star Wars fans.

But are you aware of the history behind this legendary weapon?

The lightsaber was Anakin’s main weapon that he used throughout the greater part of the Clone Wars.

When Anakin Skywalker became a Jedi, he constructed Graflex, which was the second lightsaber.

The first one was destroyed, and it was in a droid factory during the Battle of Geonosis

With its use, the legendary Jedi Knight would have cut down different Separatist battle droids.

So, there was one of the two lightsabers used before the Sith Lord and Separatist Leader, Count Dooku.

After these events, the Graflex became an official first saber of Lord Vader when the former hero of the Republic fell to the darker side.

However, he used the weapon to kill younglings.

They were hiding from clone troopers, all in the Jedi Temple.

Anakin’s final action with the use of this iconic weapon can be on Mustafar, in an epic duel between him and his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Kenobi takes away his brother’s lightsaber and leaves him injured by the side of a lava river. But their fight was lengthy and tough.

With the motive to hide his identity, Kenobi buried the Graflex lightsaber and his own saber in the sand of Tatooine, where he was staying earlier.
